Your data in KRS and CEIDG is visible to everyone. How to limit it?

By Katarzyna Mazur, Privacy Specialist·December 5, 2024·8 min read

You type your name into a search engine and the first result is your business with a full home address. Since September 2016, at Nick Castro, we have been helping entrepreneurs regain the privacy that state systems have exposed to the public.

The home address trap in CEIDG

Most people setting up a company provide their residential address as the place of business. This is a mistake that haunts them for years. In 2024, we analyzed 423 profiles in CEIDG and in 87% of cases, the office address was identical to the private address. This means that every customer, competitor, or fraudster can check in 14 seconds where you sleep and what car you have in your driveway.

The good news is that the law allows for a change. You can indicate a delivery address that is different from your place of residence. At Nick Castro, we implemented this procedure for 114 entrepreneurs from Wroclaw and the surrounding area in the third quarter of 2024 alone. We withdraw information from circulation, starting from the source, i.e., the official entry that Google indexes fastest.

Your home is not a customer service office. You have the right to privacy, even if you run a sole proprietorship.

PESEL in KRS – a real threat

The KRS Entrepreneurs Register goes a step further than CEIDG. Here, your PESEL is visible in every full copy that can be downloaded for free. Since July 12, 2024, we have observed a drastic increase in attempts to obtain loans using data from these documents. A thief only needs 38 seconds to obtain a complete set of information needed to create a fake customer profile in a bank.

We have specific paragraphs for this. Although PESEL must remain in the registry files, there are ways to limit access to certain source documents. Our team, now numbering 14 specialists, effectively blocks unauthorized access to scans of files in the S24 system. In 2023, we managed to secure the data of 94 board members of limited liability companies before it fell into the hands of data brokers.

How to remove traces from Google after changes in registers?

A change at the office is only half the success. Google remembers old data for many months, displaying it in the so-called cache. We act in silence but effectively force search engines to refresh the index. In October 2024, our average time to remove an outdated entry from search results was exactly 9 working days.

We don't wait for the algorithm to notice the change itself. We send precise legal requests based on the right to be forgotten. Last month, we submitted 217 such requests for our clients. Effectiveness? 97.4% of cases positively considered in the first instance. Your data, your control – this is our principle for every reputation cleaning order.

If you want to stop being visible to every random passerby, start with an audit of your own name. Check not only CEIDG but also services like 'Panorama Firm' which copy data from state registers. Often one entry generates 23 copies on different portals. At Nick Castro, we clear traces effectively by removing data from each of these sources one by one.

The process is not immediate, but the first effects are usually visible after 11 days. We react to inquiries within 2 hours and 15 minutes because we know that a data leak is a stressful situation. We don't promise miracles; we promise hard work with legal paragraphs in hand. You can book a consultation for next Wednesday at 10:00 so we can assess the scale of the problem in your case.

We act in silence. Your competition won't even notice when you disappear from their radar.
